Cherished Melodies and Memories

Touring is always quite the experience, and is always considered to be one of the highlights of a season for a few reasons. Not only is it a chance to be with your friends and get to know them better, but it’s also a time to grow musically. This year’s touring experience was taken to another level. We reached a new accomplishment of not just leaving a country, but leaving a continent… Just think, now we are international!
The MCC was truly blessed to be given a chance to share our love of singing with the people of England. Throughout the nine days spent in England, we sang for and met plenty of people we’ll never forget. We were greeted with kindness and enthusiasm as we sang in breathtaking venues such as Windsor Castle, Canada House, Stratford, and Devizes.
Our voice as a choir grew stronger as the trip continued and with each concert, we felt an even more intense connection with each other, let alone with the audience.
Every trip is filled with memories, but I think the memories from this trip will dominate all others. For example, singing at the Tower of London, or looking in awe at all the Queen’s sparkling jewels. Or even the memory of more casual events, singing to the early morning commuters in the ‘tube’ station just to brighten their day, or a fun and hilarious talent show put on by the choristers, Celene ,and Mr. Bell. In any case, every adolescent from this spectacular trip will tell you a story full of laughter and music.
It’s amazing the relationships that grow during our tours. Although we are all individuals and very different from one another, we truly do become one rather large and enthusiastic family. Our love for each other became so strong that at our final concert, in Queens College as we sang our grand finale, Song for Canada, almost every single one of us cried because we knew that was the last song we would sing together in England.
The MCC choristers would like to thank everyone who allowed this trip to be as life changing as it was. All the hard work put into the trip not only showed our love of music to England, but allowed relationships to be built and grow. Hopefully we will have yet another chance to fly the flag of our country as we sing Song for Canada. It has been a remarkable privilege to be a member of the MCC as it embarked on its first international tour.
